As you may know, my long term ambition is to run 20 Leeds Half Marathon's in 20 years.
I am happy to also be back playing a little bit of football after 5 months off due to the lockdown and other things going on. It may only be a bit of friendly 9 a side on some Monday's at the moment but it is great to be back playing my first passion in life and enjoying getting back fit cardio wise again. Below is a photo of me after my first game back.
I have also been asked by one of my old football mate to play in a 5 a side vets league with them this year so that is an option I'm exploring to get playing some competitive footy again.
However, we have just heard from the government that we are going into a full national lockdown again so it will most likely be all up in the air now.
After all the previous years of when I used to run quite a few cross-country races (between 2012 and 2015) including the big Nationals and Northern events, where apart from one or two races, I always ran pretty well and in the top half of the regionals, I never owned a pair of trail or cross-country trainers. This meant I used to slip a lot and it really hindered my performances. Anyway, I have now finally bought some and I tested them out last month and they really are great.
I bought them because around my new area where I live in Menston, there are a lot of cross-country fields. woods and moorland near by where I can train and get into trail running properly as a way to keep myself fit and enjoy my runs.
I have been enjoying some core strength and fitness workouts using my home gym equipment, a few photos you can see below from my workouts.
I also completed a Bike Challenge in November and a Running Challenge in October. The Bike Challenge was more for an extra training motivation for myself to train indoors on my home workout bike instead of outdoors running when the temperature started dropping for winter. It's just a good way of keeping training motivation going during these boring lockdown periods.
