Hi, my name is Richard Joyce, 39 years old from Leeds, Yorkshire in the United Kingdom.
I have a passion for sports, both taking part and writing reports about sports news that I am interested in. My favourite sports to write about are rugby league, football, boxing and athletics.
I am a 6-time 'Good For Age' marathon runner and a former Lucozade Sport Top Ten Percent athlete.
My PB race time for the marathon distance is 2:57:29, achieved aged 29 and my PB time for my shortest distance, one mile, is 5.02 seconds, achieved aged 28. My favourite distance to run is the half marathon and my PB race time is 1:22:45 which I achieved at 29 years old. I have achieved two PB's over the age of 30, the latest being my Twenty Mile PB of 2:14:13, which I achieved at 31 years old.
In October 2018, at 33 years old, I announced that I am now semi-retired from competitive running.
I have been playing competitive football since the age of 8 years old and since senior football from 17 years old to my current veteran age, I have played over 900 games and scoring over 1,000 goals.
I reached the milestone of 1,000 goals aged 29 years old.
I reached the milestone of 900 games at the age of 32 years old.
Since the age of 8, I have played over 1,000 games of competitive football.
Playing football has always been my number one sport and it is my true and first passion in life. I took up many sports at a competitive level as a child such as rugby league, cross-country, athletics and field hockey but football was the one sport I always truly loved with great passion.
Running became my number one priority for five years during my physical peak years between 2012 and 2016. I have also always had a huge passion for fitness and strength training.
MARATHON COUNT: 9
(retired in 2018 aged 33, comeback in 2023, aged 38)
TWENTY MILES COUNT: 6
HALF MARATHON COUNT: 37
My marathon, twenty milers and half marathon 'race mileage' is currently at 839.3 miles. I call this my body clock mileage. Training runs are not considered.
MY BEST BLEEP TEST FITNESS RECORDS:
Kirkstall Harriers Running Club Bleep Test 2015 (aged 30) = Level 14.1 (number 1 position for club members, number 2 position overall)
Cross-Country Team Bleep Test 2002 (aged 17) = Level 20 (shorter length)
